Dr Daniel Cohen is an Australian trained specialist hip, knee and trauma surgeon.
Dr Cohen graduated from the Sydney University Medical School and has also completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Orthopaedic surgical training program. He subsequently undertook post graduate training both locally and internationally, spending 1 year at the prestigious St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto completing a fellowship in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. It was there he was introduced to day surgery joint replacement and was involved in a number of quality improvement projects aimed at advancing post-operative patient care. On his return to Australia, Dr. Cohen completed a travelling smart robotics fellowship in hip and knee joint replacement.
Dr Cohen believes in a patient centred, personalised approach to hip and knee replacement. He utilises computer navigation and robotic assisted surgery to enact patient specific planning and component placement in joint replacement surgery. He is fellowship trained in multiple approaches to hip replacement including the minimally invasive anterior approach and the direct superior approach.
Dr Cohen has previously completed a research based Masters of Science in Physiology. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed medical journals also presenting his research nationally and internationally. His research interests include alignment and balancing in knee replacement, day surgery joint replacement and recently the timing of surgery following COVID-19 infection and vaccination.
He is currently appointed at Grafton Base Hospital, St. George Private and Kareena Private Hospital.
