Dr Daniel Cohen

Dr Daniel Cohen is an Australian trained specialist hip, knee and trauma surgeon.

Dr Cohen graduated from the Sydney University Medical School and has also completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Orthopaedic surgical training program. He subsequently undertook post graduate training both locally and internationally, spending 1 year at the prestigious St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto completing a fellowship in primary and revision hip and knee replacement. It was there he was introduced to day surgery joint replacement and was involved in a number of quality improvement projects aimed at advancing post-operative patient care. On his return to Australia, Dr. Cohen completed a travelling smart robotics fellowship in hip and knee joint replacement.

Dr Cohen believes in a patient centred, personalised approach to hip and knee replacement. He utilises computer navigation and robotic assisted surgery to enact patient specific planning and component placement in joint replacement surgery. He is fellowship trained in multiple approaches to hip replacement including the minimally invasive anterior approach and the direct superior approach.

Dr Cohen has previously completed a research based Masters of Science in Physiology. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed medical journals also presenting his research nationally and internationally. His research interests include alignment and balancing in knee replacement, day surgery joint replacement and recently the timing of surgery following COVID-19 infection and vaccination.

Dr Peter Lam

Dr Peter Lam is a nationally and internationally recognised Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon.

Dr Lam uses the latest techniques in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) for the correction of bunions and certain forefoot deformities and arthritis of the big toe metatarsophalangeal joint. He also has particular interest in ligament and tendon reconstruction, realignment surgery and treatment of ankle/hindfoot arthritis. Dr Lam performs surgery at St George Private Hospital,North Shore Private Hospital,  Castlecrag Private Hospital, St George Private Hospital and East Sydney Private Hospital. 

Dr Lam was invited to be the prestigious Kenneth Johnson International Speaker at the 2024 American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society meeting on Minimally Invasive Bunion Correction Surgery.  Dr Lam was an invited international guest speaker at the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting in 2014,  Canadian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting in 2018,  American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting on Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery in October 2020,  European Foot and Ankle Society Annual Congress in 2020 and 2021,  8th Scientific Meeting of the Asian Federation of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in 2021,  6th Congress of Minimally Invasive Foot and Ankle Society in 2023,  29th Annual Meeting of the German Association for Foot and Ankle in 2024,  American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting 2024.

Dr Matthew Yalizis

B.PHARM, MBBS, FRACS, FAOrthA

Dr Matthew Yalizis is an Orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in all aspects of shoulder, elbow and trauma surgery.

Dr Matthew Yalizis uses both arthroscopy (key-hole) and the latest open surgery techniques for the management of upper limb conditions and aims to utilise the latest surgical techniques and implant technologies.

He has presented at numerous national and international meetings including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Meeting, Australian New Zealand Orthopaedic Research Society Meeting, Australian Orthopaedic Association Meeting and the Australian Shoulder and Elbow Society Meeting.

Dr Michael Symes

B.Sc (Adv), M.B.B.S, FRACS, FAOrthA

Dr Matt Donaldson is a Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George and Sutherland Hospitals, covering trauma and upper limb surgery.

He has specialist experience in shoulder and elbow surgery after completing a fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital and has also attained general trauma experience as a fellow at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has bachelor’s degrees in Advanced Science and Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sydney.

Matt is interested in research and teaching, having completed an 18-month research placement in London, and has published research articles and presented at international conferences on topics including robotic surgery, clavicle fractures and paediatric hand surgery.

When not at work, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and is currently learning French in preparation for a 12-month shoulder surgery placement in Lyon, France, in mid-2024.

Dr Vaibhav Punjabi

MBBS, FRACS(Orth), FA(Orth)A

Dr Vaibhav Punjabi is an Australian trained Orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty interest in primary & revision hip & knee replacement, robotic, minimally invasive & arthroscopic surgery.

He completed his orthopaedic training in 2015 in Sydney and spent one year with internationally renowned orthopaedic surgeon Professor Fares Haddad in London, UK where he gained further experience in revision hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr Punjabi performs robotic assisted hip and knee replacements. He also specialises in knee arthroscopy, knee ligament injury (ACL, PCL, Collateral ligaments, Posterolateral corner injuries), meniscus injury, patellofemoral and cartilage problems.

Dr Punjabi works both in public and private sector. He is actively engaged in teaching and training of orthopaedic registrars, medical and nursing students and is involved in orthopaedic outreach work in Fiji.
